2025 Tax Return by Phone: Quick Guide for Foreigners

The 2025 tax campaign is here. If you prefer to file by phone, you have until June 30 to submit it. However, you need to request an appointment first, and the deadline for that ends on June 29. So move fast if you don't want to be left without a slot. This guide is mainly for foreign residents who are not yet familiar with online procedures.

How to request an appointment: three ways

You have two numbers to call: 91 535 73 26 or 901 12 12 24. They are automated, and each call allows you to book a single appointment. Need to change or cancel it? You can do so as many times as you want. When you book, don't forget to provide your mobile number: the Tax Agency will send you an SMS with the date, time, office, and a link to the documents you'll need. If you provide your email, you will also receive a reminder.

What do you need for them to call you?

The Tax Agency will only call you if you have requested an appointment first. And note: always from the same number, 91 333 5 333. Write it down so you don't get confused. If you get a call from a strange number or receive a WhatsApp or Telegram saying they are from the Tax Agency, ignore it: it's a scam. If it happens, you can report it through the Tax Agency's citizen cooperation channel.

When they call you, they will ask you to identify yourself with Cl@ve or with the reference number you obtained online. The conversation is recorded, so be careful. Have all your tax data handy: ID/NIE, reference number, last year's return, and any documents that justify income or deductions. If you are a foreigner, don't forget your NIE and your NIF if you have one.

A tip: before they call you, review your personal and tax data. Did you move? Did you have any extra income? Write it down. The return is prepared based on what you have declared, and they will ask you to confirm. If something doesn't match, you can request an appointment at an in-person office — also with a prior appointment, of course.
