The 2025 Income Tax Filing season begins with in-person service on June 1—but keep in mind, you can schedule an appointment starting May 29. If you’re a foreigner and would prefer to get some help in person, this is important for you.
To enter a tax office, you absolutely must have an appointment. If you show up without one, they won’t see you. You can book an appointment by phone (901 200 350 or 91 535 68 37), online, or through the app. They’ll send you a text message or email to confirm the date and time. So, without an appointment, don’t even bother.
In-person service is available from June 1 through June 30. Don’t wait until the last minute, especially if you have an NIE or immigration issues that complicate your tax return. Here are the documents you’ll need to bring:
- Your valid DNI or NIE.
- Your income tax reference number (if you’ve filed in previous years).
- Proof of your income: pay stubs, benefits, etc.
- Documents proving deductions or residency, such as your certificate of registration with the local government.
- If you have a rental agreement or pay a mortgage, your receipts.
- Bank statements if you’ve received financial aid or have accounts abroad.
Double-check that nothing is missing, because if you’re missing any information, you’ll have to schedule another appointment and wait. And that’s no fun.
You can choose the office closest to you using the locator on the Tax Agency’s website. Keep in mind, though, that not all offices have the same hours, so plan ahead before you go.
