Beware of fake immigration appointments: agents warn

This Thursday marks the start of the application period for extraordinary regularization. In-person service begins on April 20. So be careful: administrative agents are warning of scams involving fake appointments.

The Association of Administrative Agents of Navarra has been preparing for over a year. They know that whenever there’s a large-scale process, scammers show up. Its president, Nuria García, puts it bluntly: there are “scammers” selling appointments that don’t exist. “Appointments aren’t for sale,” she insists. What you’re paying for is professional handling of the process, not the appointment itself.

Cases have already been reported in Navarra. People paid hundreds of euros for an appointment that never materialized. They lost their money and never even started the application process. The risk isn’t just financial: a mistake with deadlines or documentation can ruin everything. And those fake agents don’t even show up.

To prevent this, licensed agents have created an official registry of immigration specialists. You can check it with the General Council. In Spain, there are more than a thousand accredited agents. They’ve also launched the “Professional Certificate 360,” a document that proves a professional is handling your application. It includes information about the agent, the association, and the service. You can verify its authenticity.

The association is finalizing a guide with all the details of the process. It will be available to professionals and citizens alike. However, they remind us that the regulations will continue to be refined, so it’s important to stay up to date. García insists: anyone applying for this regularization “is putting their future on the line.” It’s a time-limited process and key to integration, including for future applications for citizenship.
