The Immigration Office of Castellón has stepped up its game, yes. The former is issued by Social Services or collaborating entities. However, you won't need it if you have worked, have a job offer, or are part of a family unit with minor children, adults with disabilities, or first-degree ascendants. If you meet none of these, you'll have to go through that certificate.

The second, the criminal record, is also mandatory. Before, you could avoid it with a sworn statement. Not now. Get the document in your country. Ibero-American consulates, according to lawyers, usually work well, although they sometimes take time. But if you come from Africa, like Senegal, things get complicated. It may take months to get it. So hurry up and request it.

The Bar Association warns that there are more bureaucratic hurdles than expected. Especially due to the lack of specificity in some points of the decree. This generates anxiety among those who want to regularize their situation. The recommendation is clear: inform yourself well, don't pay for appointments, and if you have doubts, seek advice.
