Closed regularization: 1.17 million applications

Well yes, the extraordinary regularization deadline has closed. And the official figures speak of a deluge: 1.17 million applications. That is, more than double the 500,000 beneficiaries the Government initially estimated. The volume has taken everyone by surprise, honestly.

Luis Mayandía, former foreign affairs commissioner, is clear: most of these applications will go through. In an interview, he assured that the regularization could end up affecting around 6 million people. How? Through family reunification.
