Colombia, you can now get your passport in Bogotá without an appointment.

Starting this Monday, if you are Colombian and need a passport, you can go directly to two offices in Bogotá without having made an appointment. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has implemented this change to end those endless lines and the ordeal of getting a slot in the digital system. So, if you have pending paperwork, get moving.

The two authorized offices are: one in the center, at Calle 12C No. 8-27, and another in the north, at Carrera 19 No. 98-03. They are open Monday to Friday, from 7 am to 3 pm non-stop. Note that more than 1.7 million passports are issued each year in Colombia, according to official data. So hurry if you want to avoid crowds.

If you are Colombian and live in Spain, this is relevant when you travel to Colombia. You can do the procedure on the same day, but be careful — it depends on the availability of slots and the capacity of each office. So plan ahead. What do you need to bring? Here it is:

For minors, one of the parents or the legal representative must go with the necessary documentation. If the child is under 7 years old, the civil birth certificate is sufficient. By the way, the new passport has an electronic chip and anti-counterfeiting measures, as per international standards.

The authorities make it clear: do not resort to intermediaries who promise to expedite the process. Use only official channels, which is the only way to avoid fraud or irregular charges. In fact, the elimination of the appointment aims precisely at that — reducing intermediaries and providing faster service, especially for those who need to travel urgently or carry out consular procedures from abroad. You have been warned.
