Extraordinary regularization: 500,000 migrants can now apply for residency

About 500,000 migrants throughout Spain –at least 24,000 in Barcelona– can apply for residency and work permits. The process is extraordinary and temporary. Note: no one can charge you for in-person appointments, they are free. All official information can be found on the website of the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migrations.

To enter the process, you need to meet certain requirements and bring a series of documents: the application, passport, criminal record certificate, municipal registration and a job contract or offer. You will also need the vulnerability certificate, unless you are a victim of gender-based violence, trafficking, labor exploitation, an international protection applicant with more than six months, or a minor.

In Barcelona, the City Council has made available to you Pavilion 2 of Fira de Barcelona, at Avenida de Rius i Taulet 10. It is open Monday to Friday, from 8 in the morning to 10 at night. There they will give you a hand to register your residence if you are not already registered and to process the vulnerability certificate. If you are already being assisted by social services, you will receive an SMS or email with a link to download it. If there are errors in your data, call 900 922 357 or go to your social services center.

If you have not had contact with social services, you must go to Pavilion 2 to request an appointment in advance. Or you can also go to accredited collaborating entities. The City Council has already sent by email or postal mail the padrón certificate to 93,000 non-EU citizens who were registered as of December 31, 2025. And furthermore, they organize information sessions in several neighborhoods. Call 93 153 28 15 or request an appointment with SAIER if you want to go.

You can submit the application online through the Ministry's electronic registry, through collaborating entities, or in person at the immigration office of your province. However, always inform yourself through official channels.
