Extraordinary regularization: you can request it this way before June 2026.

You can now apply for the extraordinary regularization. The deadline runs from April 16 to June 30, 2026. If you are in an irregular situation, you can request a residence and work permit. It is estimated to affect half a million people across Spain, and at least 24,000 in Barcelona.

So first, get informed through official channels. The Ministry of Inclusion website is your reference. In Barcelona, the City Council has strengthened immigration legal services and customer service offices. In addition, it has set up a central space in Pavilion 2 of Fira de Barcelona, at Av. Rius i Taulet, 10. It is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. There they give you general information and assign you a slot for support points.

And what documents will you need? Well, the census certificate and the vulnerability certificate, among others. If you are already registered, the City Council is sending you by SMS or email a link to automatically download that certificate. If you did not provide them with that information, you can request it in person at your social services center. Another option: request an appointment at Pavilion 2 if you have no prior social services assistance.

If you are not yet registered, SAIER gives you a hand to prove residence in Barcelona. In addition, there are informational talks by the Immigration Services Directorate and the Neighbourhood Plan, in the morning and afternoon. To attend, call 93 153 28 15 or request an appointment with SAIER.

Note: in-person appointments are free. No one can charge you for booking an appointment. If you have doubts, check the ministry's website or that of the Generalitat, which has also set up a support space. And don't trust unofficial agents — the information is available in several languages: Catalan, Spanish, English, French, Arabic, Urdu, and Chinese.
