Extraordinary regularization: you can apply for it until June 30, 2026.

Well yes, from April 16 to June 30, 2026 you have an opportunity. The Government has opened an extraordinary regularization for those who are in Spain without papers. In Barcelona alone, the City Council estimates that at least 24,000 residents can take advantage. Throughout Spain, it's around 500,000 people. So hurry up.

The procedure gives you a residence and work permit if you meet the requirements. The basic documents are passport, certificate of registration, and, except in special cases, a vulnerability certificate issued by social services. However, if you are an international protection applicant or a minor, you will not need that certificate.

Are you already being attended by Barcelona's social services? Then you will receive an SMS or an email with a link to download your vulnerability certificate. It is generated automatically, but it may take a few minutes — patience —. If you see any error in your data, call 900 922 357 to correct them and generate it again. And if you did not provide a phone or email, you can pick it up in person at your social services center. Get moving.

If you have no prior relationship with social services, the City Council has set up Pavilion 2 of Fira de Barcelona (av. Rius i Taulet, 10). There you will be given an appointment for the regularization support points. Hours: Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., without interruption. Another option: go to accredited collaborating entities in the electronic immigration registry. In any case, you have been warned.

On the other hand, the City Council has sent by email and postal mail the registration certificate to 93,000 non-EU citizens who were registered as of December 31, 2025. If you have not received it or need help with the registration, 'SAIER' —the Service for the Attention of Immigrants, Emigrants and Refugees— can guide you. They also organize information sessions in several neighborhoods, morning and afternoon. To sign up, call 93 153 28 15 or request an appointment with SAIER. You already know.

Get information only through official channels. In-person appointments are free, be careful. No one can charge you for an appointment. Check the website of the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migrations and that of the Generalitat of Catalonia. The information brochure is available in Catalan, Spanish, English, French, Arabic, Urdu and Chinese. You have been warned.
