Do you work at the UPCT as a faculty member, researcher, or in administration? If so, this will interest you. From July 8 to 15, the Prevention Service will set up an intraocular pressure screening station on the second floor of the ELDI Building—from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The goal is to catch glaucoma early—that silent disease that gradually damages the optic nerve and can cause blindness. And keep in mind, it’s free.
Glaucoma is a silent thief—it goes unnoticed until it’s too late. So getting your eye pressure checked is key. The campaign is aimed at UPCT staff, but if you’re a foreigner working there, you’re welcome to participate as well. It doesn’t matter what your nationality is or your immigration status: what counts is that you have an employment relationship with the university. So don’t hesitate.
To avoid waiting in line, you’ll need to make an appointment in advance. Log in to the Virtual Campus, go to the “Employee” section, and look for the “Prevention Service Appointment” tab. The deadline is July 7 at 1:00 p.m. So don’t wait until the last minute—if it fills up, you’ll miss out, and that’s no fun.
The program is free, and they don’t ask for any weird paperwork. When you book your appointment, since your position is already registered with the university, you don’t need anything else. So take advantage of it: taking care of your eyesight is essential. And if you live outside your home country, getting a checkup early on can save you a lot of headaches down the road.
