Interpretive criteria for regularization published.

The Directorate General for Migration Management has just published on its website the interpretative criteria of Royal Decree 316/2026 —the famous decree on extraordinary regularization—. If you are involved in that process, you should take a look: there they tell you which documents are valid, how deadlines are counted, and what situations fit. So you know, get moving.

However, don't think it's a short text. It's several pages with examples and specific cases. But it's worth spending some time on it —especially if your file is going that route. You can find the direct link on the Directorate General's portal. So you know, go for it.

As if that were not enough, the Official Journal of the European Union has just updated the reference amounts for crossing external borders. Those are the numbers they may ask for at passport control to prove you have sufficient financial means. The amount varies depending on the length of stay and the country. If you plan to travel or bring someone, make sure you comply. You don't want surprises at the border, right? That's it.

Both publications are from this week or the previous one. The first one affects you if you are in the regularization process; the second one, anyone entering or leaving the Schengen area. Neither is optional: if it applies to you, you'd better take them into account to avoid scares. You've been warned.

And watch out: the interpretative criteria are not the law, but they indicate how the Administration will read the regulations. If your case is complex, find a specialized lawyer. Don't risk it.
