Madrid opens the Zendal to vaccinate against the flu without an appointment.

Haven't you gotten your flu vaccine yet? Well, if you live in Madrid, you can go without an appointment to the Isabel Zendal Hospital. It is open Monday to Friday, from 08:30 to 20:30 continuously. So move it.

This is because Madrid has already exceeded the epidemic threshold —42 cases per 100,000 inhabitants at the end of November—. The campaign started on October 15 and they have already vaccinated more than 1.2 million people. With this reinforcement at the Zendal they aim to push the needles.

And who can get vaccinated? People over 60, healthcare and social healthcare workers, chronic patients, pregnant women, and caregivers of vulnerable people. Also smokers and nursery or preschool teachers. If you are in one of these groups, you can show up at the Zendal without an appointment. Note: minors under 18 must go to their health center.

And not just the Zendal: there are more than 800 vaccination points distributed throughout the community, especially in health centers and hospitals. The authorities remind —and rightly so— that the vaccine is the best protection against serious complications of the flu. However, if you have respiratory symptoms, don't forget the mask in public spaces and wash your hands frequently.

For foreigners: your administrative status does not matter, the vaccine is free and they do not ask for a health card. Your ID or passport is enough. However, make sure you belong to the recommended group so you don't go in vain.
