Mafias copying appointments from the registry and selling them up to 400 euros

Getting an appointment for the municipal registry is a nightmare. You spend weeks refreshing the city hall website, only to always see the same message: “No dates available.” Well, behind that backlog lies an illegal business that rakes in millions a year.

These immigration mafias use bots to snap up the appointments released by the districts in seconds. They then resell them in call shops, Telegram groups, and offices. The price varies: from 10 euros at a call shop in southern Madrid to 400 if they register you at an address where you don’t even live. That said, up to 30% of the appointments go to waste because they don’t sell them all.

Police sources confirm that these groups also control other procedures: asylum, residency, fingerprinting. They tried with ID cards and driver’s licenses, but they couldn’t pull it off there. The big problem is that almost no one reports it. “The haul is in the range of several million euros a year, but no one goes to court,” says an officer who specializes in immigration networks.

So if you need to register as a resident and can’t get an appointment, don’t deal with these middlemen. Paying them just fuels the racket. Keep in mind that some city halls now let you complete the process online with a digital certificate or a simple property registration document. Check with your local district office. And if they ask you for money for an official appointment, report it.

This affects thousands of people every day. Without an updated registration, you can’t go to your neighborhood health center, your kids lose points at school, and you lose out on municipal aid. So don’t give up: keep at it, but always stay within the law.
