Immigration appointments for April are gone: scam alert.

Well, in-person appointments for the extraordinary regularization for this month of April are already over. The immigration office –which depends on the Government Delegation– does not have a single free slot until May. So if you were planning to go this month, you'll have to wait.

But don't focus only on appointments — you also need to watch out for scams. The Immigration Office warns that fraud has increased. There are people charging up to 50 euros for a procedure that is completely free. The appointment costs nothing, it is an administrative procedure, not a paid service.

How to avoid being fooled? First of all: be very clear: requesting an appointment is free. No one can demand a single euro from you. If someone asks you for 20, 30, or 50 euros for the appointment, that is fraud. Only use the official channels of the Government Delegation. Do not trust intermediaries or offers on social media.

With the high demand for regularization and the few slots available, it creates a perfect breeding ground for scammers. They take advantage of your need and urgency. But be careful: paying does not guarantee you anything. On the contrary, you risk losing the money and ending up without an appointment. So you know.

If you have been scammed, report it at the police station. The National Police has procedures for that. And if you need guidance, there are associations that help with immigration procedures.
