Between April and June, the Government launched an extraordinary regularization. The result in Ontinyent? 564 vulnerability reports processed by the city council. This document is key: it allows more than 500 foreigners to regularize their situation.
The reports are issued by the municipal social services. And of course, it has been an extra effort, according to the council. It is nothing new: when the process started, many town halls already warned that they would be overwhelmed. In the end, all the practical management of these measures ends up in the municipalities, as always.
And the effects are already beginning to be noticed in the records. The Government Delegation updated the NIE data in June: in Ontinyent there are 82 new registered foreigners. 70 more than in June last year. Until that month, monthly variations usually hovered around 20 people.
That difference is a sign that the regularization is taking effect. Not all beneficiaries have registered yet — the records are being updated little by little — but the 82 new registrations show that the process is already moving numbers.
If you are processing your residence, registration and the vulnerability report are mandatory steps. Be clear that the town hall is your first stop. And they don't always have the means to go fast. So be patient, and bring all your papers in order: that way you will avoid delays.
