Peruvians, you can now get your passport without an appointment

As of June 1, you no longer need an appointment to apply for an e-passport in Peru. The Immigration Office serves applicants on a first-come, first-served basis at each office, according to its hours of operation and until the day’s quota is filled.

What will you need? Bring your valid ID card in good condition, plus proof of payment for 120.90 soles. You can pay at Banco de la Nación, through Págalo.pe, or directly at the Immigration offices—they accept Yape and card payments there. Then take a ticket and wait for your passport to be printed. You can step out for a bit, but you’ll have to come back to pick it up.

Priority service continues to be given to the elderly, pregnant women, and those traveling with children. And if you already had an appointment booked, you will be served before everyone else, in accordance with your scheduled time. Why the change? Because the online appointment system was flooded with bots and brokers selling appointment slots. By offering in-person service, the Immigration Office aims to restore fairness.

The new system was tested on May 28, 29, and 30 nationwide. The agency recommends arriving early and bringing all required documents to avoid delays. In cities like Tacna, lines have already formed, but officials are confident the situation will improve.

According to data from the Immigration Office, more than 323,000 e-passports were processed in 2026—3% more than the previous year. And between April and May of this year alone, 104,000 were issued. The increase in demand and the issues with appointments have led to this measure. So now you know, get there early.
