If you need to renew your ID card or passport and live in Cantabria, take note: the Piélagos City Council has opened the window for scheduling appointments. The National Police’s mobile unit—VIDOC—will be in Renedo on June 2 and 12. The service will be set up outside City Hall from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
You can schedule appointments by phone at 942 07 69 60. Please note that there are only 30 slots available per day. Each appointment takes about 10 minutes: they’ll take your fingerprints, print the document, and give it to you on the spot. If you want to renew both documents, make two separate appointments. And if you’re coming with your family, each person must make their own appointment. Hurry up.
What to bring? One passport-sized photo, for both the ID card and the passport. Fees must be paid in cash with the exact amount: 12 euros for the ID card, 30 euros for the passport. There’s no card reader, so be prepared.
By the way, VIDOC also updates digital ID certificates without the need for an appointment. You can stop by directly on those days.
The City Council, in collaboration with the Ministry of the Interior, is offering this service to make documentation more accessible to residents. If you’re a foreign national applying for your first Spanish ID card or passport, make sure to bring everything they ask for. And remember: appointments fill up fast, so call now.
