Renta 2025: make your appointment in person as of May 29th

Starting May 29, you can schedule an in-person appointment to file your 2025 tax return. Yes, it’s that simple. The IRS is opening the window for you to visit an office and get some help—because, let’s face it, you can never have too much help with paperwork.

If you’re a foreigner and you’re dealing with the paperwork, this is for you. Because as a tax resident, you’re required to file your taxes. And if you have questions—which is normal—in-person assistance is just what you need. You can request the appointment online or by phone, and then they’ll assign you a date and time. You don’t need to bring huge stacks of documents: your ID card (DNI) or Foreigner Identification Number (NIE) and your income details are usually enough.

For foreigners, this service is especially useful. Many arrive with temporary contracts, changes of residence, or income earned outside of Spain. The Tax Agency’s website has guides in several languages, but in-person assistance resolves more specific questions. That said, appointments fill up fast. So don’t wait until the last day.

If you prefer to do it online, the tax filing season has been open since April. But the window to request an in-person appointment starts now. Remember: the filing deadline is June 30. After that, penalties kick in. Don’t take any chances.

To schedule an appointment, visit the Tax Agency’s website or call 91 335 73 69 (or 901 12 12 24). Have your NIE and the reference number for your draft return handy, if you have it. The system will show you the available times in your province.
