Request an appointment for the tax return in Madrid. From this Friday, you can request in-person assistance.

This Friday marks the start of in-person tax filing appointments at Madrid’s municipal offices. The City Council is launching its in-person assistance service—so you can get your questions answered and fill out Form 100—a service that’s also relevant if you’re a foreigner registered as a resident in the capital. Keep in mind that your tax obligations are the same as those of any other resident.

You can book an appointment starting at 9 a.m. on Friday, either through the City Council’s website or by phone. Keep in mind that the filing deadline starts in April, but don’t wait until the last minute—there will be lines. If you’re a foreigner and unsure about your tax situation—such as income earned abroad or whether you’re required to file—this appointment is perfect for you.

The service is in-person, so get moving. To book the appointment, you’ll need your NIE or DNI, and your tax information from the previous year. The City Council recommends bringing everything: employment history, bank details, whatever you have. And don’t forget that if you’ve worked for less than a year or your situation has changed, the paperwork gets more complicated. So it’s best to get good advice.

The service is designed for everyone, but especially for those unfamiliar with the Spanish tax system. In fact, many foreigners are filing their taxes for the first time and have no idea about their rights and obligations. At the appointment, city staff will answer your questions and help you file your return online.

The filing period for income tax runs from April to June, usually. In-person appointments are released on a weekly basis, so keep an eye on the municipal website. And hurry, because they fill up fast.
