Are you over 60 and live in Salamanca? Well, you're in luck: starting this summer, you can get answers to all your questions using your cell phone, tablet, or computer without having to make an appointment. The City Council has launched the service, called “New Technologies Assistance,” designed for those who need help with everyday tasks: installing apps, sending photos, browsing safely, or handling administrative tasks online.
It doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or already know your way around a bit. Advisors are available to assist you at three senior centers. Keep in mind, though, that the hours vary by season. In July, August, and through September 11, you can visit the Juan de la Fuente Center on Tuesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The Tierra Charra Center is open on Mondays and Thursdays, also from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. And the Trastormes Center is open on Wednesdays and Fridays during those same hours.
Starting September 14 and throughout October, the hours are extended. At Juan de la Fuente, Wednesdays from 5 to 7 p.m. are added. At Tierra Charra, Tuesdays from 5 to 7 p.m. And at Trastormes, Monday afternoons. So if you work in the morning or have other obligations, you can stop by in the afternoon.
Isabel Macías, the councilwoman for Senior Citizens, explained it a few days ago: this is about bridging the digital divide and helping seniors gain independence. And keep in mind, if you’re a foreigner over 60, this is perfect for handling administrative tasks online, scheduling appointments, or renewing documents.
You don’t need to bring any paperwork or make an appointment. Just bring your device and ask your question. The advisors will guide you step by step. So don’t hesitate—come on by.
