The Royal Decree has been definitively approved by the national government and was published in the Official State Gazette on April 15, 2026.
The application period runs from April 16, 2026, through June 30, 2026.
Applications may be submitted primarily online through Mercurio Extranjería, on the website of the public administrations’ electronic portal.
In-person applications will be accepted, but only by appointment, starting on April 20.
Main requirements:
* Proof of having lived in Spain prior to January 1, 2026
* Provide proof of an uninterrupted stay in Spain of at least 5 months
• Have no criminal record for serious crimes
* Meet one of the conditions (employment, family ties, or vulnerable circumstances)
According to government estimates, more than 500,000 people could benefit from this measure, one of the largest regularization efforts in recent decades.
