The special regularization program closes with 1.17 million applications

The deadline to apply for the extraordinary regularization program ended on June 30. This was no ordinary process: the Ministry of Inclusion has received 1,174,978 applications. Of these, 609,737 are already being processed. If you’re among those who submitted an application, this information is for you.

The breakdown is clear: 79.6% of the applications are for extraordinary residency, and the remaining 20.4% are from applicants for international protection. Online submissions were the most common method: 83.2% were submitted online. The remaining 16.8% were submitted in person at post offices, Social Security offices, or immigration offices. Did you submit your application on paper? You can still correct any errors in person until September 30. Be sure to check carefully to see if any documents are missing, because once that deadline passes, corrections can only be made online.

The involvement of professionals was key. Nearly six out of every ten applications were filed by lawyers (58%), followed by authorized civil servants (16.8%) and administrative agents (8.4%). If you filed on your own using a digital certificate, you’re part of the 7.3%. And keep in mind, 495 nonprofit organizations also participated and can advise you throughout the entire process, not just at the beginning. If you have questions about your application, reach out to them.

By nationality, Colombia leads with 25.9%, followed by Morocco (13.3%), Venezuela (11.8%), and Peru (8.8%). As for where the applications are concentrated, Catalonia leads with 257,602, followed by Madrid (202,424), Valencia (167,286), and Andalusia (161,557). If you live in one of these regions, the pressure is greater, but that does not affect the decision.

Some good news: many are already working. There were 159,097 new Social Security registrations linked to this process. 77.3% have permanent contracts, so integration into the workforce is well underway. Sectors such as hospitality (38,776), retail (20,195), and construction (18,310) have generated the most jobs.

If you have to wait, don’t despair. The authorities have stated that the process remains open for corrective actions and that there will be further updates. Keep an eye on your email and the online portal. And remember that you’re not alone in this.
