Tomorrow, June 30th, the deadline for extraordinary regularization for foreigners ends. In Galicia, between 10,000 and 12,000 people are finishing their paperwork to legalize their status. Police stations are already preparing for another collapse —and it's not the first time. So if you haven't done it yet, get moving.
Does it affect you?
This process is for foreigners who arrived before a certain date and still do not have their papers in order. If you are one of them, you need to hurry because the window closes on Thursday. However, not just anything works: you need to have everything ready.
Appointments have run out in many locations —the volume has been massive. So some police stations have had to set up extra shifts or serve those who already have their documentation ready without an appointment. This is not the first time this has happened, mind you: in previous processes there were queues at dawn and weeks of waiting. So be prepared.
If you still haven't submitted your papers, check the requirements on the National Police website or go to your local police station. Bring originals and copies of everything: passport, certificate of registration, employment contract or proof of income, and the official form properly stamped. Don't leave anything out —you'll need it.
Don't trust pirate agencies. The procedure is free, okay? Anyone asking you for money for an appointment is scamming you. So be careful.
