Registration is now open for unions and NGOs to help you with your immigration regularization for free. Order ISM/164/2026, published in the Official State Gazette (BOE) on March 2, activates the “Electronic Registry of Immigration Partners,” a tool administered by the Secretary of State for Migration that was created in conjunction with the extraordinary regularization process. So if you’re undocumented, there are people who can sit down with you and help you for free.
Who can sign up? On the one hand, labor unions with sufficient representation at the national or regional level. On the other hand, nonprofit organizations working in the fields of migration or international protection. However, the latter must have been in existence for at least three years before applying for registration. And all of them, without exception, must demonstrate two years of experience supporting foreign nationals:
- Assistance.
- Counseling.
- Social integration.
- Administrative assistance.
They must also be in good standing with the tax authorities and have no criminal convictions or penalties on record.
Their role is significant. They will assist applicants in submitting their regularization applications. And this support is free: if you’re preparing your application, you can rely on these organizations without it costing you a single euro. Each organization will maintain a registry of the specific individuals authorized to represent applicants. That way, you’ll always know who is assisting you. Keep that in mind.
Registration is done online through the electronic portal of the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security, and Migration, and is addressed to the General Directorate of Migration Management. You must attach three documents: one certifying the organization’s legal representation, one demonstrating experience in providing support, and the list of authorized individuals. In addition, you must comply with data protection regulations. Registration is valid for four years and can be extended for another four.
Beware of intermediaries
The existence of this registry also helps curb abuses. Assistance from registered organizations is free of charge, so be wary of anyone who asks you for money in exchange for “handling” your legalization on behalf of an association. Always ask for the organization’s name, verify that it appears on the list of authorized entities, and keep any documentation of what you sign. If something doesn’t add up, file a complaint. You’ve been warned.
