If you haven’t gotten your flu shot yet and are in a high-risk group, you have the opportunity to do so this week without an appointment. The Navarre Health Service-Osasunbidea has set up walk-in vaccination sites in Estella-Lizarra and Pamplona. In Estella, the health center will be open on Monday, November 25, and Tuesday, November 26, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. In Pamplona, the Buztintxuri health center will be open on Tuesday, November 26, Wednesday, November 27, and Thursday, November 28, during the same hours, and on Saturday, November 29, in the morning, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
The fact is that flu cases are on the rise in Navarre, and the expected peak has come four to six weeks earlier than in previous years. So the Department of Health is urging the target population to get vaccinated as soon as possible. If you’re over 60, pregnant, have a chronic illness, or work in healthcare or essential services, you’re eligible.
You can go directly to the designated vaccination sites without an appointment, but only if you belong to one of those groups. However, in Estella, if you are a patient at the city’s health center, you can also schedule an appointment through your Personal Health Record for those time slots. People in other areas can go without an appointment as long as they meet the requirements. So now you know.
The population groups eligible for vaccination, according to the Ministry of Health’s recommendations, are:
- People aged 60 and older.
- Pregnant women at any stage of pregnancy.
- People with chronic conditions: heart disease, respiratory conditions, diabetes…
- Healthcare and social care workers.
- Essential service workers: police, firefighters, civil protection.
- People living with high-risk patients or with infants under 6 months of age.
In addition to these walk-in locations, the vaccination campaign has been active since October 20 and will continue through mid-December. You can schedule an appointment at your health center or clinic by phone, through your Personal Health Folder, or via the mobile app. If you have questions about whether you’re eligible, ask at your center.
