Valladolid Sets Record for Foreign Members Following Regularization

If you were waiting for the extraordinary regularization to show up in the numbers, here’s the proof: Valladolid has just reached an all-time high in the number of foreign workers registered with Social Security. Last month, 355 more people were registered, bringing the total to nearly 25,000. This is no fluke: the entire region of Castile and León, with the exception of Soria, saw growth in July that exceeded the Spanish average.

17% more than a year ago

The autonomous community now has 119,021 foreign members. That represents a 17.04% increase over July of last year—a rise that exceeds the national average by more than three percentage points. On a monthly basis, the increase was 4.23%, nearly double the national average. Only Asturias, Extremadura, Galicia, the Valencian Community, and Andalusia are growing faster than Castile and León in relative year-over-year terms, according to data published by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security, and Migration.

And where do they come from? Colombia tops the list, with 16,763 members. It is followed by Morocco (14,908), Romania (13,996), and Venezuela (11,988). There are also 9,388 Bulgarians and 4,914 Portuguese. These figures explain why the hospitality industry, manufacturing, retail, and construction account for the majority of new jobs.

What to Do If Your Application Gets Stuck

If you’ve applied for regularization or have a pending appointment, don’t rely solely on the statistics. The workload at the offices remains high, and delays are not uncommon. Check the status of your case on the online portal, keep all your paperwork in order, and if anything gets complicated, don’t hesitate to ask. Sometimes a simple administrative procedure can turn into a maze.

Across Spain as a whole, July brought mixed results: while Andalusia, Murcia, La Rioja, and Aragon saw their monthly registrations decline, Cantabria, Asturias, Galicia, and the Balearic Islands led the increases. Castile and León fell somewhere in between, but with a clearly positive outcome.

If you’re in the middle of the process, don’t stress out, but don’t get complacent either. Your documentation must be up to date and submitted on time. And if your appointment is delayed or you run into problems with the system, there are ways to resolve them.
