Without an appointment: how to obtain your passport in Bogota as of March

If you're Colombian and live in Spain but need to renew your passport in Bogotá, you're in luck: starting March 16, 2026, you won't need to make an appointment. Just walk into the office and you'll be served on a first-come, first-served basis. It's that easy.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has set up two offices in the capital. The one in the city center is at Calle 12C No. 8-27, and the one in the north is at Avenida 19 No. 98-03. They’re open Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., with no lunch break. Just make sure to arrive early.

And what do you need to bring? If you were born in Colombia and are of legal age, your original ID card is all you need. If you were born abroad, you’ll also need the original full civil registry record—with all marginal notes, mind you. No photocopies. And you must apply in person: you can’t send a cousin. So don’t take any chances.

Prices in Bogotá for 2026: a standard passport costs about 190,000 Colombian pesos; an executive passport, 323,000; and an emergency passport, 192,000. In other regions, it may be more expensive due to departmental taxes. Watch your wallet.

If you’re planning to travel to Colombia and your passport is about to expire, this new option saves you from the nightmare of trying to get an appointment. Just make sure to get there early: service is on a first-come, first-served basis, and the lines can be long. So now you know.
