Zamora has received 1,951 applications for regularization and is processing them in Vigo

Zamora closed the extraordinary regularization window with 1,951 applications. The period ran from April 16 to June 30, and this Monday, the Government’s subdelegate in the province, Ángel Blanco, released the figures.

The breakdown by submission method is revealing. 870 people—44.5%—preferred to submit their paperwork in person rather than deal with the online portal. The post office processed 460 of those applications, and Social Security officials received another 409. The remaining 1,081 were submitted online. Of those, 637 were submitted by lawyers, administrative agents, labor relations specialists, representatives, and collaborating registries. Only 195 were submitted by the applicants themselves, on their own.

So what happens now? Well, the Zamora Subdelegation simply collected the documents. The entire processing procedure has been centralized at the Immigration Case Processing Unit (UTEX), based in Vigo. So if you submitted your application, be aware: your case will not be resolved at the provincial office. Insisting on checking the status there is pointless.

The number of in-person visits speaks volumes. Nearly half of the applicants bypassed the online portal, and that gives a pretty clear indication of how complicated it is to navigate the online procedures. If you have any pending immigration matters, don’t wait until the last minute, and don’t assume the system will respond right away. Gather your documentation well in advance and, if possible, schedule an appointment as soon as you can.

Blanco announced that the data and the progress of the process will be detailed in an upcoming briefing with Social Security officials. That same meeting will also address immigration and the Labor Inspectorate. For now, the situation in Zamora remains unchanged: nearly two thousand cases are currently being processed outside the province.
