Zamora wraps up the regularization process with 1,951 applications: now it's up to Vigo

If you submitted your application for regularization in Zamora, it is no longer being processed in that province. The 1,951 applications filed there have been transferred to the Foreigners’ Case Processing Unit (UTEX), based in Vigo, which reviews the cases centrally.

The volume exceeded the Government Subdelegation’s expectations. Nearly 2,000 foreign nationals applied for the process in Zamora, a figure that the Administration itself acknowledges was higher than initial projections. The application period began on April 16.

And the breakdown between in-person and online submissions paints an interesting picture: nearly one out of every two applications was submitted in person. Specifically, 870 were delivered to the designated reception points, accounting for 44.5%. The postal service collected 469, and Social Security offices registered 409.

The other half, 1,081, were submitted electronically. Here, the role of professionals was significant: lawyers, representatives, administrative agents, and social security specialists handled 637 applications. Another 195 people decided to submit their paperwork on their own. If you were one of them, keep your submission receipt in a safe place and verify that the information matches your documentation: errors on the form are one of the most common reasons for requests for additional information.

That said, the Subdelegation has clarified that its role was limited to receiving the applications. From now on, UTEX is in charge. This means that questions about the status of your application are no longer handled in Zamora. If you need information, the best course of action is to ask the person who filed the application on your behalf, if you used a representative.

The fact that the process is now centralized in Vigo does not affect your rights or the substance of the procedure, but it does affect the timing and the channels involved. Applications from all over Spain end up in the same system, so a response may take some time. You won’t get very far by pressing the provincial office—they no longer have the authority to resolve these matters. If you haven’t received anything yet, check your email and the notifications section where you’ve registered your contact information.
