Spain is preparing for the full launch of the Entry/Exit System (EES) on April 10


The great change in the Spanish borders. Starting from 00:00 on April 10, 2026, traditional stamps in the passport will disappear forever.


The new Entry/Exit System (EES) of the European Union will enter into operation on a mandatory basis at all airports, ports and land borders of Spain (including Gibraltar, Ceuta and Melilla).


What will happen when you arrive in Spain?


- They will scan your passport

- They'll take a facial photo of you

- They would register the prints of four fingers

- The system will automatically calculate the days you have left according to the 90/180 rule

The data will be kept securely for 3 years.

There are already more than 700 new automated kiosks at Madrid and Barcelona airports. Even so, the authorities warn that control times can increase by up to 70% during the first days.
